This isn’t a technique people are normally using on clothing. Most TikTok users tend to use their bathtub because laundry stripping is typically done on larger items like couch covers and towels. To strip your laundry, you’ll need a good chunk of time and a large bucket or bathtub. And you’re probably here because you’ve seen some already! While different people may have slightly different methods of laundry stripping, the principal is still the same.
#LAUNDRY STRIPPING NO WASHING SODA FULL#
#cleantok is full of videos of people stripping their laundry. So that’s where laundry stripping comes in. The idea is that a regular wash doesn’t get all the dirt, grime, detergent build-up, body oils, and more that amass deep within the fibers of our towels, blankets, pillowcases, etc. The purpose of laundry stripping is to deep clean laundry. While the trend got popular on TikTok in the past year, it’s actually been around for much longer than that. If you don’t have that, just do a normal cycle. As I write this, the hashtag “laundry stripping” has 138.7 million views on TikTok! That’s huge! But what actually is it? Laundry stripping is a viral trend that claims to deep clean laundry.

Laundry stripping honestly has them smelling good and I cannot believe that would ever have happened. I honestly cannot believe I hadn’ t just thrown them away. My husband has a couple of shirts that no matter how much I washed or on what cycle or with what products, they literally just had a bit of odor to them. My sheets have honestly never been brighter or smelled cleaner. But moms, this trend takes it to a whole new level. While I cannot see what comes out of my laundry in the washing machine, I am certain it is doing a pretty solid job and is probably pretty gross depending on the load. It wasn’t just the dirt that I saw that made me a believer. But my own research has shown that it clearly gets extra dirt out that your regular washing machine does not. Laundry stripping is basically a method of soaking laundry so you can see the dirt and grime that comes out of it. Incredible and disturbing at the same time. I tried laundry stripping the next morning and it was incredible. But after learning there are cleaning hacks on it, I take back all the sarcasm and am officially grateful he has brought this trend into my life. I used to tease my husband for having the Tik Tok social media platform on his phone where people can share short videos like dancing. The only laundry hacks I really use are things like using Dawn to get stains out or throwing apple cider vinegar in with things like gym clothes. I had not and I was immediately intrigued. Knowing his wife loves cleaning and particularly loves learning new cleaning tips, he asked if I had heard of it. My husband was scrolling through his Tik Tok app the other night and came across some trend called laundry stripping.
